Asian stocks trade mixed after the Fed policy statement

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The Asian equity indices are trading mixed today while the US Dollar index rose to a near three-week highs after the Fed policy sounded a little hawkish.

The Asx is trading 0.52% higher, while the Shanghai Composite has gained 0.76%. The Indian equity markets are trading up by 0.8%, while the Hang Seng has declined by 0.76%. Meanwhile, the Nikkei has gained 0.67% due to the strength in the USD/JPY exchange rate.

The broader gains in the equity markets have been capped after the fed surprised markets by sounding upbeat on the economy’s prospects. The Fed did mention that the interest rates would remain low for a considerable period of time, however the acknowledgement of the improvement in the labor market made the policy sound hawkish.
