EUR/AUD trims gains, back below 1.45 handle

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The single currency remained elevated versus the Australian dollar in the European session, however, erased partial gains from the previous session on persistent Euro weakness.

Currently, the EUR/AUD cross trades at 1.4452 levels, up 0.24% on the day, retreating from fresh four-day high at 1.4612 levels in the Asian session. The EUR/AUD trimmed gains as the prospects of more aggressive monetary policy stimulus are weighing on the performance of the 19-nation bloc currency, dragging it down against most of its major peers. EUR/USD now trades close to fresh nine year lows of 1.1727 levels, down -0.26%, while the AUD/USD snapped partial losses and trades at 0.8126, down -0.50% on the day.

EUR/AUD Technical Levels

The pair has an immediate resistance at 1.4664 (Jan 8 High) levels, above which gains could be extended to 1.4687 (Nov 28 High) levels. On the flip side, support is seen at 1.4399 levels, from here it to 1.4360 levels.

USD/JPY risk shifts to the downside – Commerzbank

Analysts at Commerzbank, anticipate USD/JPY to move towards 115.55/50 levels, with near term risks to the downside after the pair eroded the 117.90 Fibo support.
